[this is chuuya we're talking about why would you ask such a thing.
he folds his arms behind his head, thinking.]
All right. The thing with the hydra mention you guys found is that they don't exactly duplicate-- this isn't a situation where you're forming two demons when one fails to get exorcised. A demon who's still active on this side is kind of like a beacon to the others, and encourages them to join, which is how you end up with two when you let one go free instead of just keeping a single active demon. Keep letting it happen and you've got a whole demon party.
You let them go free by failing the exorcism, or by killing their host using normal means instead.
...but he quiets at that comment, before he nods.]
Yeah. From a purely pragmatic kind of standpoint... you could be better off trying to leave evidence on them, or doing something like Izuminokami did, and trying to get the host caught and exorcised instead. This works out worse if you fail to get it right, but if you don't...
Ballroom's open, it's the fucking penthouse you can only sometimes get into.
[he refuses to say panthouse.]
I see where you're going, but good luck with two things: getting a demon who's out to kill you near it, and setting up a whole ritual with a demon out to kill you.
Not to mention that you'd need to have the necessary components, and we can't just hand those off to someone on the off-chance they're going to be the target.
Those circumstances are absolutely not "hey, think I might die, want to hand those over on the off chance it works out?" You've got a much better chance of just staying passed out the entire night.

[...]
That means... in a way, if a demon comes after you, it might actually be better for the group as a whole not to fight back.

[big shrug on that one!

I see.
[so that's how it is. not that it's a surprise, at this point.]

[he hates it, thanks.]
