♪ Born in Japan and adopted by a Japanese family in America; Chuuya grew up speaking both Japanese and English
♪ He was a troublemaker and attention seeker from an early age, and was put in martial arts classes as a child to try to teach him discipline. It sort of worked; mostly, though, he learned he really likes fighting people, and continued to pick fights at school. Usually he felt he had a reason, either being teased for his small size or comments about his name not matching his looks. ♪ Chuuya spent a lot of time in detention as a result, where he'd read or work on his own writing & poetry when he finished his other work; an uncle he was close to was an author, and inspired and encouraged his interest. ♪ He's always been very close to his family-- they visited aunts & uncles and grandparents (or had them over) often, and even after moving to Recollé he's continued to keep in touch with them on at least a weekly basis. ♪ Moved to Recollé after high school to study literature, living with extended family until he could get his own apartment. The extra freedom led him to push boundaries a little too far, still picking fights and partying a bit too hard at times, basically being your usual Delinquent Teenager; his attachment to his family kept him from going far enough to get into real trouble (he didn't want to become a problem for them), but he did end up on probation at school and chose to drop out. ♪ He was hired at a restaurant run by family friends, the Quill, and helped a bit with the attached Inkwell bar (just cleanup/setup outside business hours while he was still underage); he grew close with the owner, eventually became the main bartender after turning 21, and inherited the bar when the owner passed away (with the owner's son taking over the Quill.) ♪ He's extremely attached to the place and its regulars, who he's gotten to know over the last couple of years. Working there has helped him settle down a bit and start devoting himself to the job, though he's still young and hasn't outgrown his old tendencies-- start a fight in his bar and he will finish it personally, then throw you out. Doesn't currently have a bouncer on staff because he likes doing it himself. ♪ The older staff still help him with business operations, and he's hired an accountant to help with the bookkeeping and finances. He's working on learning how to run the place properly, but he's only owned it for a few months. |

♪ Bilingual, with a bit of a preference for Japanese; speaks English with most people he knows and generally uses it on social media too, but likes to use Japanese with others who speak it. All his writing is done in Japanese first and translated into English when it's finished.
♪ Has a band with some college friends of his; Chuuya is the vocalist and writes their lyrics after another member composes the songs. They don't play often, as it's just a hobby for most of them, but it happens maybe once every other month. His voice sounds like: this, and also this (Chuuya's voice actor does vocals for both of these don't judge my ass for anime band ok); the band's sound is more similar to the latter. ♪ the band also needs a name send help. ♪ Terrible with money, always living beyond his means; Chuuya lives the 'designer clothes, shitty apartment and instant noodles' life, and had a bad habit of spending frivolously. It's a miracle he actually gets his bills paid, and he gets invited to dinner a lot by family who Know what he's like. ♪ Loves hats, music, drinking, and expensive alcohol. It's where too much of his money goes. ♪ Lives in what is basically the cheapest apartment he could possibly find. It's got minimal furniture, he doesn't have a bedframe, and his fridge tends to be on the emptier side. He almost never invites people over unless they're very close. " the inkwell. "
♪ Known for its somewhat old-fashioned decor, though Chuuya is slowly updating it (just minor things like reupholstering, putting in new wood paneling, that sort of thing.) It's fairly mellow and not much of a party spot; he usually plays jazz as background music.
♪ All of the drinks are literary references (think Tequila Mockingbird). ♪ Chuuya is currently the only PC employed (but hit me up if you're interested!) ♪ There is no bouncer right now because Chuuya likes getting to kick people out too much, on the rare occasion it's needed. ♪ He's very good at spotting fake IDs, in part because he definitely had a couple as a teen... it's not entirely impossible, but good luck sneaking in if you're underage. Chuuya met Anya and her mother after moving to the city, on his family's recommendation; he grew close to Anya quickly once he realized how much time she spent by herself, even teaching her some self-defense to try to make sure she'd be safer when he wasn't around. ♪ Koutarou - wordcarvingsA cousin & member of Chuuya's extended family, who he also met after moving.
