[ He is never getting into a car ever again in his life, he decides as he walks up to the desk so he can haul himself onto the desk to sit instead of any other piece of furniture, leaning over to peer towards the door to see if security wants to listen in on his drivel or not. ]

[The same security NPC who'd tailed him up here peeks in the door briefly, and Chuuya waves them off; they close the door behind them, leaving Kano and Chuuya to their conversation.]

You're gonna have to explain more than that... were you driving? Did someone hit you on purpose, was it one of those Xian Le assholes--

[ Kano eases up a little now that nobody's listening in on them— not that he doesn't trust the security, but just the principle of having privacy makes him feel more secure. ]

Nah, if I were driving, we'd probably all be dead. I don't have the full story, but on my side of it, me and Nines came across some Xian Le guys two nights ago and kiiiiiiiiiinda got pulled into more than we bargained for. BUT BEFORE YOU GO BURN DOWN THE OTHER HALF OF TOWN—-

The two of us were over on Westside— Don't say anything. You can yell at me later, being over there isn't important. [ There'll be plenty more to yell about and maybe Chuuya will forget to ask why Kano's hanging out over on the west side in the first place. ]

But, like, these two guys pulled up in their fancy car and promised info about the whole thing with the late mayor if we got in the car and helped, so we got in the car and— I KNOW, I KNOW, DON'T SAY ANYTHING.

[ There were plenty of bad choices made that night, and ever other sentence has Kano scrambling for his own defense, but there really isn't one. ]

We got in the car 'cause there's no way we'd turn down the chance for deets, and there was a machine gun in the car that we managed to jam and then we crashed into another car that also had a gun and, like, one of 'em went flying or something, I dunno, it was a freak accident and I couldn't tell you what happened but, like, yeah. The end.

[ Both he and 9S were weak for potential information... neither of them stood a chance. Anyways, the thread's wrapping up but is still ongoing in the background, so Kano shakes his head and shares what he remembers before dragging himself to Itaru's place and passing out the entirety of the day. ]

They said the Moris were involved with his death. That's bullshit, right, Chuuya? They were gonna take a gun to eastside to avenge the mayor, and— I dunno if you know, but if anybody asks who snitched, it's not me, okay? But, like, two of the guys on our side's got one of those machine guns too and were gonna let loose on the west for kidnapping all those people the past few weeks.

[ There was a little shootout. Nobody died, Kano doesn't mention anything and give Chuuya another heart attack. ]

About that, though, Nines says the perps are from people outside of town doin' the kidnapping and pittin' both sides of the river against each other. You hear anything more about that?

Oh for fuck's sake-- I didn't authorize anyone to go starting that kind of trouble! If you know who they were, I want names or at least descriptions, we're going to have a Talk.

[Capitalized out loud and everything... god. He has enough on his plate to deal with without people running off half-cocked, much as he would also like to fight the Xian Le sometimes.]

I haven't heard anything about it being outsiders' fault though, no. Last I heard, it's all been Xian Le men connected to the kidnappings and violence.

[ It was dark and the crash rattled things up a bit and he would honestly like to trauma block all of this from his memory, but instead he ran the scenario through his head again and again so he wouldn't forget any of it until he could get to Chuuya. Description he can do, which'll be handwaved, and then names. ]

Beppe and Nino on the other side. Of our guys, I only caught one of the names: Sammy.

[ But the description he gives matches a man named Glenn. ]

You're gonna have to press Nines on the whole outta towner thing, though. I dunno if he knows any more than that, but every lil' bit help, yeah?
